Abstract: The compilation of the map of desertification possesses an important Practical significance on the controlling of desertified lands. It not only can indicate the status of desertification, but also can reflect the genesis, speed, prediction of the trend of development and the evaluation of the perniciousness of desertification. Only by doing so, can the scientific evidences be provided for the desertification combating. The map of desertification doesn't, indicate a simple aspect, only it daels with an intergrated series of problems as well. Its major contents are as follows: 1. The map of the types of desertified lands: Contains the speed of the development of desertification processes and the topograpic features of deser-tified lands. 2. The map of the human factors to cause the genesis and development of desertification. 3. The map of the perniciousness of desertification. 4. The map of the prediction of desertification and its scheme of renovation and regionalization (invctlloying or classificalion of land types for preventing from invasion of deserlificalion) for controlling. 5. The map of the actual effects on desertification combating. For obtainning the data to compile the map, besides the field investigations and the case study of typical areas; the analysis of aerial photo in different times and the application of computer should be popularly adopated, so that, better effects can be satifyingly gained.
