Abstract: Based on aerial photographs, large scale topographic maps, detailed ground surveys and measurements of production of the rangelands, the characteristic features, main types, status of utilization and distribution of the rangelands in the Gongcharhan Commune, Ih Ju League, Inner Mongolia, were analysed, The results showed that most of the rangelands have been overgrazed and desertified. Some measures for rehabilitating the desertified rangelands have been presented.
