Abstract: The distance of Yellow River from Beichongtan to Hegu, Shannxi Proyin ceis J200km and meanders eastward via Tengger Desert, Hedong Deserti, wulan Bnh Desert and oubgi Desert. Mu Us Sandv Land is at a certain distance from Yellow River. But somee tributaries such as wudin River, Tuwei River and Kuye River flow into Yellow River through Mu Us Sdndv Land. Evidentv, aeolian sand at the banks of Yellow River is being continuously blown into Yellow River, where 151.4 km is seriously inf luc need by blownsands,112 kmis slightly influenced and 208.6 km is undert he imPact of sand encroachment. The sandy land along the banks of Yellow River is formed by serious droughts, frequent winds and rich sand materials on surface. The evoluti veprocesses oftnesandy tsnd can be devided into two phases, namely the sandyland formed both in the qeological period and historical period. At theend of Iiater pleistocene epoch in geological period, aeolion Sands deve-l oped properously and in the human nistorical period,at least three phases of strong aeolian sanqs ano three phases of weak aeolian sans have taken plapce. The inherit hazards of aeolian sands to Yellow River during the geological period is chracterized and manifested by timeliness, direction ness and regionness, but during human nistorical period, the hazards refe r to the blownsands, dune encroachment and collapse of the river bank and the. silt up and deposition on river course.
