Multilevel Fuzzy Compositive Evaluation of Wind-breaking and Sand-fixing System in Desert Oasis: Taking Gaotai County as A Case Study

Abstract  This paper, applying the method of fuzzy mathematics, comprehensively assessed the existed 7 types of windbreaks that have been established for 20 years at Gaotai desert area in the Heihe river basin through analyzing the 3 indexes: growth situation of plants and sand-fixation effect, mechanical components of soils, Soil moisture content. The result reveals that the following 3 windbreak patterns are the optimum: the mixture belt of Headysarum scoparium, Caragana korshinskii, Haloxylon ammondendron (6 m×3 m), the mixture belt of Haloxylon ammondendron, Headysarum scoparium(4.5 m×3 m) and the belt of Caragana korshinskii (6 m×5 m), they are ecologically healthy and economically valuable, and can be applied and extended in Gaotai desert area.
