Response of Chlorophyll Fluorescence Paramenters to Day-Night Temperature Difference in Two Halophytes under NaCl Treatment

Abstract  The effects of NaCl and day-night temperature difference on chlorophyll fluorescence parameters for two halophytes species, Suaeda physophora Pall., Haloxylon ammodendron(C.A.Mey.) Bunge,which distributed in Northwestern China, were investigated. The results showed that: (1) the value of Fv/Fo, Fv/Fm reduced quite slightly in S. physophora but quite obviously in H. ammodendron. The maximum value of Yield, ETR were all observed in S. physophora. It showed that the S. physophora had a stronger ability to resist the impacts of NaCl and day-night temperature difference than H. ammodendron. It suggested that S. physophora seemed to be more suitable to grow in the area with NaCl and day night temperature difference. (2) It also showed that the the value of Yield and ETR in H. ammodendron could recovery in the afternoon. It suggested that although the organs were destroyed in the pre-stress conditions, they still were able to adapt to the environment through photosynthesis regulation, in order to maintain the activity of plants. (3) Under this experimental conditions, although there was no damage on the plants of S. physophora, 200 mmol\5L-1 NaCl had restrained its photosynthetic capacity.
