Influence of Soil Texture on the Thermal Diffusivity

Abstract  The study of soil thermal property is an important method for analyzing the surface energy balance, and soil thermal diffusivity is a key parameter which characterizes soil thermal property. Thermal diffusivities of soils of different texture were calculated according to different solutions of heat flow equation in non-steady condition. The results indicated that thermal diffusivities of air-dried soils were less than 1.4×10-3 cm2·s-1 and decreased with time. Better soil nutrient and lighter soil texture result in poorer heat transfer.
