Effect of Windward Slope Curvature of Sand Dunes on Wind Speed-up Factor

Abstract  In this paper, the wind speed-up process on dune windward slope was calculated by using of the FLUENT software, and the influences of dune height, wind velocity, windward slope and curvature were discussed. The results indicated that windward slope angle and curvature significantly influenced the speed-up factor, and there are ideal fitting function of wind speed-up factor changing with windward slope angle and curvature, however, dune height and wind velocity had little effect. Finally, the formula about speed-up factor and windward slope as well as curvature was fitted.
