Primary Research on Coastal Sandy Land in Hainan Island by 137Cs Technique |

Abstract Abstract: 137Cs technique has received wide application in soil erosion in recent years. In this paper, it is used to analyze the characters of sand movement in coastal sandy land in Hainan Island. The 137Cs reference inventory of Hainan Island is calculated to be (645.42±54.66)Bq·m-2, which is lower than the globe average of the Northern Hemisphere. And the 137Cs activity of coastal sandy land is also low because of the disturbance of water erosion, wind erosion and human activities. Analyzing results of the 137Cs distribution along soil profiles suggest that the interdune of shrub-coppice dunes experienced a long term of steady deposition, and the profile of shrub-coppice dune appears that it has disturbed by human activities. It is estimated that the deposit speed of sandy land in the west of Hainan Island is around 1.25 cm·a-1.
