Abstract:

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are important microbial resources, which can establish symbiotic relationships with most of plant roots. Their symbiotic system has a high application potential in the ecological restoration and desertification controlling. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can increase the absorption of nutrient elements, promote plant growth, enhance drought, salt and alkali, disease resistance and heavy metal tolerance of plants, and improve the adaptability of plants to stress environment. In this paper, the importance and application potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in desertification regions were discussed in terms of the physiological functions, influence on plant community and practical application in desertification regions, so as to provide new ideas for vegetation restoration and rebuilding in desertification regions.

Key words: arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, desertification controlling, application potential, plant development
