Bioassay methods were used to study the allelopathic effects of Artemisia ordosica leaf aqueous extract on eco-related species Hedysarum laeve and Caragana intermedia seed germination and seedling growth. The results showed that A. ordosica leaf aqueous extract caused inhibition on H. laeve seed germination and seedling growth, the inhibitory effects were increasing along with the concentration of the leaf aqueous extracts. The indexes of seedling morphology were sensitive to leaf aqueous extract, seedling dry weight, seedling fresh weight, root fresh weight, root length, seedling height, root dry weight were listed in terms of their sensitivity. The synthetic effect index of MDA content was significantly greater than other physiological indicators, relative conductivity rate also had a relatively strong inhibitory effect. A. ordosica leaf aqueous extract showed the "Hormesis effect" on C. intermedia seed germination. The leaf aqueous extract accelerated the seedling growth, but with its concentration raised, the positive effect gradually decreased. root fresh weight, root length and seedling dry weight were sensitive indexes. The leaf aqueous extract could inhibit the seedling physiological characteristics in concentration-dependent manner, relative conductivity rate and MDA content were relatively sensitive indexes.
