Artifical afforesting seabuckthorn can significantly alleviate problems of poor water storage capacity and soil erosion, but the mechanism is still unclear. In this paper, soil bulk density, soil porosity and soil moisture capacity were observed to explore the effects of 2-8 years old Hippophae rhamnoides on soil physical properties in arsenic sandstone areas. The results showed that: soil bulk density decreased after planting seabuckthorn, soil capacity and soil moisture increased, and this effects increase with the forest age of seabuckthorn, but the soil capacity and soil moisture decreased with soil depth increased, mainly in the 0-10 cm soil layer. In arsenic sandstone area, Artifical afforesting seabuckthorn can improve soil moisture physical conditions, probably due to litter and roots of substrates.
