We selected the Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica at oasis shelterbelt in the Ulan Buh Desert as research object, and determined tree height, diameter at breast height growth and volume using stem analysis. The results showed that artificial planting P. sylvestris shelterbelt grew well in the Ulan Buh Desert and its initial mature age was 24 a. The tree height fast-growing period of P. sylvestris was the first 12 a (0.632 m·a-1). Growing rate of tree height decreased in 12-15 a (0.517 m·a-1) and reached a peak value (0.634 m·a-1) in 18 a. The diameter at breast height fast-growing period was in 6-18 a,and reached the peak value (1.039 cm·a-1). The volume grew slowly respectively in 12-15 a, 18-21 a,and reached the maximum 0.108 m3·a-1 in 21 a. The differences of tree height among average trees, dominant trees and landscape trees was not significant (p>0.05); the difference of diameter at breast height increment among average trees, dominant trees and landscape trees was significant under F test (p<0.05). Volume increment difference of average trees, dominant trees and landscape trees in the first 15 a were not significant (p>0.05). The differences of average volume between average trees and dominant trees became significant gradually (p<0.05) starting from 18 a, while there was no significant differences between average trees and landscape trees (p>0.05).
