Preliminary Observation on the Efficiency of the Wind-preventing and Sand-resisting Forest Belt in the Western Part of the Great of Huanghe River——Taking Baleng Commune of Dengkou County as an Exbmple

摘要: 在内蒙古巴彦淖尔盟河套西部五十年代开始营造的大型防沙林带, 最窄的为100-200米, 最宽可达3-4公里, 全长为175公里。它与封育的沙生植被相结合, 形成平均宽达5公里的绿色带, 对控制北部乌兰布和沙漠的入侵起着屏障作用。其中坝楞公社一段位于磴口县城东北约10公里处(图1)。该公社西、西南、西北为乌兰布和沙漠, 南北长15公里, 东西宽2.5-5公里, 总面积5万多亩, 而沙漠占60%以上。

Abstract: The forest belt belongs to one part of the types of windbreak belt at the northeastern margin of the northern Ulan Buh Desert.Based on the observations and investigations of the forest belt in the section of Baleng commune of Dengkou-county ic 1976,the facts show that it is better to adopt multibelts with sparse structure between the desert and the oases, because of their good effects of wind prevention and sand resistance at present.The serious sand accumulation behind and within the forest is an outstanding problem.The utilization of clay to cover the dunes can temporarily play a certain role in the protection of the existing forest belt', but under great amount of sand fixation by plants and the coming from the windward side, if the measures of sand fixation by plants and the revegetating practices are not adopted simultaneausly, the forest belt will be extensively buried by sand and lose its function. Thus the authors have proposed some suggestions for the remaking of the existing belt, sand fixation by plants as well as revegetating the saudy land.
