Abstract: It is attempet to understand the climaic changes and the sedimentary environment since the Quaternary Period in Sjara-Osol-Gol District by studying the element distribution in the Quaternary strata at Disiaogou Bay of the Sjara-Osol-Gol River at southeast edge of Mu Us Sandy Land. It is pointed out that there occurred three-warm-wet periods and three dry-cold periods ince the Later Pleistocene period and the aeolian sands and loess were accu mulated during relevant dry-cold climate since the Later Pleistocene period. And it is concluded that the aeolian sands and loess are the sediments in the dry-cold period.
