Abstract: Establishing sand-fixing system is the most important condition of all, which ensures Tarim Desert Highway unblocked. Through comparing the properties and the cost of different sand-fixing system for the Highway, it was concluded that plant dune fixation has more advantage than mechanical dune fixation and chemical dune fixation on properties of sand-fixation and the years of shelter. In the sand-fixing engineering of the Highway, mechanical dune fixation should act as a temporary auxiliary measure, plant dune fixation (planting shrub shelter-belt) is fit to act as a permanent measure, chemical dune fixation has better applying prospect to the sand-fixing of edge slopes and zero section of the Highway.
