Abstract: Zhanjiang, located in a specific geographical location and characterized by complex condition of physical -environment, is often subjected to the influences from seawater along the Zhanjiang Coa'st Line and that from the interior rivers. These influences bring, great number of silt and sand sources to the coastal line of the eastern Zhanjiang. The coastal dunes are formed by: a) prevail eastern winds and typhoon; b) sychronons coincide of windy season and drought season in the Spring and the Autumn;c) sand accumulation by stormy waves and sea water tides. The distribution of sand soil, the characteristics of marine sand and aeolian sand and their formation are presented to discuss as well in the study.
