The allelopathy of desert plants Peganum harmala to seed germination and seedling growth of Lycium ruthenicum were studied using biological determination method. The results showed that: (1) Cauline leaf water immersion of P. harmala restricted seed germination and seedling growth of L. ruthenicum, and increased with improving concentration; (2) The seedling dry weight and seedling fresh weight were most sensitive to cauline leaf water immersion of P. harmala in seedling morphological indices, followed by fresh weight of root and seedling height, and root length and root dry weight showed less sensitively; (3) Comprehensive allelopathy index value of malondialdehyde was significantly greater than other indicators(IR=34.22), the cauline leaf water immersion had less impact for soluble protein content of L. ruthenicum(IR=0.52). It followed that biological starting point of allelochemicals multiple effects of cauline leaf water immersion of P. harmala might be the damage of membrane system.
