Planning of Desertification Control and Related Models in the Hulun Buir Sandy Land

Abstract  

In accordance with comprehensive planning principles, the Hulun Buir Sandy Land was divided into five areas based on the natural conditions and the practical situation of ecological construction projects: control area of   Pinus sylvestris, comprehensive sand control area of the forest-steppe ecotone, northern sand control area, central sand control area, western scattered sand control area. Six models for desertification control suitable to the Hulun Buir Sandy Land were put forward: enclosure model of Pinus sylvestris, mixture sow models of shrub and grass in grid-like, afforestation model, mixture modes of mechanical sand barrier and sow of shrub and grass, stransplanting model of wild Pinus sylvestris seedlings,high and vertical sand barrier model. The optimized models corresponding to different site types in the five areas were proposed in the last.
