Abstract  Studies have shown that social capital is an important factor affecting regional economic development and farmers' income. So, social capital has been much concerned. We acquired the data collected from 665 farmers in Zhangye City, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu, China, and calculated the social capital index of farmers in the three areas, and analyzed the factors influencing the farmers' income. The results show that: (1) The social capital index in Zhangye is highest, and is up to 0.8154.The social capital index in Gannan is 0.7377, while the social capital index in Linxia is the minimum, reaches 0.7128. (2) The farmers' general trust, social participation, the resources inserted in network, mutual norms and the social capital index of farmers have significant positive correlation on farmers' income. So, we are sure that the combined action of trust, network and norm can bring more influence upon farmers' income than separated.
