An overview of the research progress and problems of rock physical weathering

Abstract:

This paper briefly reviews the recent theoretical research progress, understanding and existing problems of physical weathering of surface rocks in academia. The theory of "subcritical crack", "Climate driven" and the development of subcritical cracks, the influencing factors of rock weathering-single-factor's effect and comprehensive effect (essentiality and universality), the impact driven or thermal cycle driven on physical weathering in the planetary-scale, are expounded and commented one by one, and new suggestions are put forward for the future research prospects.
