Abstract: In this paper, the coverage of vegetation, the occupation ratio of bare land and the soil texture are determined as the evaluation indicators of the degree of wind eroded desertified land in frequently occuring area of sand dust storm. Based on these 3 indicators a mathematical model to determine the degree of wind eroded desertified land was set up. Meanwhile, considering the ratio of non desertified land area and different degree desertified land area, a regional evaluation model of land desertification level was given out. This evaluation system is testified to be applicable by using remote sensing technique and field investigation in the frequently occurring area of sand dust storm.
