Abstract: The distribution feature and change trend of summer precipitation during 40-years from 1961 to 2000 at the north slope of middle Tianshan mountains of Xinjiang were analyzed. The results showed that the mountain area is an ideal experimental or operational site for artificial precipitation augmentation due to the concentrated summer precipitation and smaller annual variation of this area compared with non-mountain regions.

Key words: north slope of middle Tiansan mountains, 40-years precipitation, statistical analysis
