Abstract: The surface temperature is much different at different positions of sand dune or even same position but at different time. The surface temperature distribution on each position of sand dune in Tazhong area of Taklimakan Desert is discussed based on the observed temperature data in winter and summer:(1) The maximum surface temperature of a day appears on the leeward slop;the greatest temperature difference between leeward slop and the other positions of dune is at the right wing and in the time of winter.(2) The leeward has the greatest diurnal temperature range, and the range is larger in summer;the position that shows the smallest diurnal temperature range is at the right wing in winter and the top in summer.(3) The maximum ground temperature appears on the leeward slop too.(4) The temperature conductivities of dune positions are much different.
