Turbulence Characteristics of Surface Layer over Hinterland of Taklimakan Desert in Spring and Summer

Abstract  The turbulent data obtained at the height of 10 m in the hinterland of Taklimakan desert were used to analyze the variation characteristics of the turbulent statistics such as wind speed, temperature, friction velocity and characteristic temperature, and to fit universal function in detail. The results are as follows: The friction velocity and characteristic temperature display obvious diurnal variation characteristic. The maximum value of friction velocity appears at z/L=-0.2. Under the unstable and stable conditions, the relations between desert hinterland surface layer dimensionless components of velocity variance and the stability follow the similarity theory power rules, considering the correlation the best power has the difference respectively. Under near neutral condition, three direction dimensionless components of velocity variance are approximate constants. Under the unstable conditions, the relations between dimensionless temperature variance and the stability follow the "law of -1/3 power".
