Floristic Characteristics of Vascular Plants in West Ordos |

Abstract The species composition, life form, water ecotype composition and flora composition of wild vascular plants in West Ordos were studied based on collection of plant samples for several years in West Ordos and according to checklist of plants by predecessor about this region. Results show that: (1) The total of 433 vascular plants species belong to 215 genera and 64 families. (2) The types of life form are mainly perennial herb, accounting for 52.66%; others are trees, shrubs, hemi shrubs, one or biennial herbs, herbal climbers and ephemeroid plants, accounting for 0.69%, 14.09%, 6.93%, 24.25%, 0.92%, and 0.46% of all species in this region respectively. (3) The types of water ecotype include xerophyte (49.42%), mesophyte (47.58%), hygrophyte (1.85%) and hydrophyte (1.15%); the xerophyte and mesophyte plants play a dominant role. (4) The flora composition and geographical element of vascular plants are complex and diverse. It show significant temperate flora nature and is also affected by the Eurasian steppe flora, East Asia forests flora, Asian central desert flora and the ancient Mediterranean flora.
