Abstract: We analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of fractal dimension of soil particles in woodland, grassland and farmland that in the typical sandy area of the Liaohe River Basin. The results show:As a whole, the fractal dimension of farmland was higher than that of woodland and grassland, and reached the maximum value(2.58) at the depth of 30-50 cm in the farmland soil, and reached the minimum value (2.26) at the depth of 0-10 cm in the grassland soil; the fractal dimension decreased as the depth increases in woodland soil, and increased as the depth increases in grassland and farmland soil. The fractal dimension of soil was significantly positively correlated with silt content(P<0.01). Farmland is more conducive to form the small soil particles, improve soil texture, whose soil structure is relatively good, followed by woodland, grassland is relatively poor.
