Effects of Sediment Supply on Aeolian Saltation Transport

Abstract  This paper presented two-dimensional numerical simulation of sand transport by wind, in which the software FLUNET was employed according to the feature of sand-laden wind structure that is a kind of two phase flow. Sand erosion-deposit budget over different sand beds were analyzed. The velocity distribution of air and volume fraction distribution of sand grain were obtained for various sand supplies and different surface roughness. The simulating results disclosed the sand volume fraction distribution law in changing wind velocity and sand bedforms, and can provide groundwork for further theoretical study and desertification control.
