Analysis of Net Primary Productivity and Ecological Service Value in Cultivated Lands of Longdong Region, Gansu, China |

Abstract Quantitative assessment and analysis of net primary productivity (NPP) and ecological service value (ESV) is helpful for healthy development of the ecologically vulnerable cultivated lands in Longdong, Gansu. NPP and ESV in Longdong region were assessed by using theories and methods related to ecological system service assessment and GIS. Results showed that the average value of NPP was about 5.04 t·hm-2·a-1 in study region, and the ESV per unit area was about 9.25×104 yuan·hm-2·a-1, so the NPP and ESV were low in Longdong region. NPP is a key factor determining ecological service value in farming system, so NPP must be improved to increase the ESV, which will play an important role in keeping the healthy development of cultivated land.
