Change of Sandy Desertification Land in Guinan County in Gonghe Basin from 1989 to 2014

Abstract: The landsat remote sensing images in 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 are used to monitor and analyze the spatial-temporal change of sandy desertification land in Guinan County from 1989 to 2014. Results show that the sandy desertification land evolution in Guinan County experience three different phases, which are slow reversion in 1989-1999, fast reversion in 1999-2004, slow development in 2004-2014.The area of sandy desertification land has reduced by 32.0 km2 in the recent 25 years, and the decrease rate is 0.91% each year; for different kinds of sandy desertification land, the area of the extremely serious sandy desertification land increased by 28.2 km2, the other four kinds of sandy desertification land reduced by 60.2 km2 totally. The sandy desertification in Guinan County was in a dynamic change progress, and the sandy desertification land increased in the nearest 10 years.
