Abstract:

Desertification is one of the major issues threatening the human environment and survival. It has received widespread attention since the Nairobi Desertification Conference in 1977. Based on the WOS database and Citespace, this paper collates and analyzes the global desertification literation. The results show that from 1992 to 2018, the number of research papers on desertification shows an increasing trend year by year, and involves 107 disciplines such as environmental science, ecology, and earth science. China is far ahead in the number of papers published in this field (accounting for 37.34%), and has established cooperative relations with many countries. Desertification research hotpots are sandy desertification, land degradation, soil erosion, wind erosion and so on. A case study of high-frequency keywords sandy desertification is carried out. It is found that the role of sand dust aerosols caused by desertification in global change has attracted much attention in recent years. Taking a multidisciplinary approach to study the drivers, feedbacks and impacts of desertification is one of the important directions for future research.
