Abstract: The effects of salt stress, exogenous calcium and their interaction on seed germination and seedling growth of Sophora alopecuroides. were studied by adding exogenous calcium under simulated salt stress. The results showed that the seed germination of S. alopecuroides was promoted under 0.5 mg·L-1 NaCl solution, while inhibited under 1 and 1.5 mg·L-1 NaCl solution. The stem and root growth of S. alopecuroides seedlings were enhanced under 0.5 mg·L-1 NaCl stress while the inhibition effect was obvious under 1.5 mg·L-1 NaCl stress. The inhibition effect of NaCl on stem growth was greater than root growth. The calcium and sodium ion concentration in roots and stems of seedlings increased with the increase of exogenous calcium ion concentration. The calcium ion concentration in roots and stems of seedlings decreased with the increase of the concentration of NaCl solution. The germination and the growth of S. alopecuroides seedlings were significantly increased under higher concentrations of CaCl2 solution.

Key words: exogenous calcium, Sophora alopecuroides, salt stress, abating effect
