Abstract: It is described that acolian dunes or sandy lands which consist of the grey-yellow sands, distributing in the south bank of the mid-lower reaches of Yangtse River, for instance, the areas near Junshan in the northern Do-ngting Lake, the area adjacent to Qingshan of Wuhan City, the area of the south bank of Yangtse River between Hukou City and Pengze City in Jian-gxi Province are the typical landscape, and the areas around the lakes in northern Poyang Lake were deposited under wind force during the last major ice age. This conclusion is summerized on the analysis of their distributions in geomorphology, sand composition and sedimentary structure as well as its forming age. These sands accumulated and formed dunes or sandy lands on the beaches during the last major ice age, owing to the reduction of the sea level, water levels of river and lake in the mid-lower reaches of Yangtse River.
