Abstract: The changes of surface features are the basic indicatorse of the occurrence and development of desertification and its reversing process. In the paper the morphological characteristics of transverse dunes in Shapotou District before and after the intervention are discussed. Shapotou is a living example of desertification erversing. The features and intensity of the morp hological Process of surface under green protective system consistig of ns traw checkboards and revegetation for stabl zing dunes are dealed with. The analyses of the effect shows that the changes of surface feature in Sha-Potou District are the systematic developmental processes under extensive human intervention on the basis of natural factors.
