干旱区土地退化与荒漠化对土壤碳循环的影响

Influence of Soil Degradation and Desertification on Soil Carbon Cycling in Arid Zones

摘要: 荒漠化是干旱区的最为严重生态退化问题,它的发生和发展对干旱土壤碳循环有着重要的影响。土壤是全球陆地生态系统最大的碳库,土壤中碳的固存和向大气的释放直接关系到全球气候的变化。干旱土壤占全球陆地总面积的40%,因此,它在全球碳循环中占有重要的地位。干旱区土地退化和荒漠化对土壤碳循环的影响包括两个主要方面:①它促进了SOC和无机碳的矿化,使之向大气释放CO2,增加了温室效应;②由于荒漠化增加了大气尘埃含量,减少了辐射,在一定程度上间接地缓解了土壤碳的损失。文章综述了近年来相关研究的进展,评价了干旱区土壤碳的固存和在缓解温室效应方面的潜在能力。讨论了干旱荒漠化地区对全球碳平衡的贡献和在干旱区促进土壤碳固存的基本策略。

Abstract: Desertification has aroused very severely ecological degradation issues in arid zone, its cause and development play a significant role in soil carbon cycling of dryland. Soils are major reservoir of carbon and important sink in terrestrial ecosystem. Global climatic changes correlate directly with the sequestration and emission of carbon by soil. Dryland does most in global carbon cycling because it occupies 40% of the earth's surface. The main influences on carbon cycling of soil degradation and desertification in drylands include two aspects: (1) the promoted mineralization of SOC (soil organic carbon) and SIC (soil inorganic carbon) leads to emission of CO2 to the atmosphere, increasing greenhouse effect; (2) the increase of dust content in atmosphere mitigates indirectly the lose of soil carbon to some extend through limiting radiation. In this paper, the recent advances of related researches were reviewed, the potential ability of carbon sequestration by soils and role of dryland in mitigating greenhouse effect were discussed. Finally, strategies of promoting sequestration of soil carbon in dryland were suggested based on the contribution of dryland to global carbon balance.
