Abstract: Hexi Corridor area possesses a very important place in rational utilization and development of land resources because it is a focal point on capital construction in the agriculture economy and is a base for marketable grain products in the northwest of China. Hexi Corridor area,located in the northwest border-area of China, belongs to an arid belt. In spite of a light fragile ecosystem, it has a big advantage of a large comprehensive production in farming, forestry, animal husbandry, side-line occupations and fishery. Because of the abundance in sun light, sun energy, land resources and proper waters it is well used to a certain degree. This paper which is based on an assessment of the direction of land use according to the features of land resources gives an introduction to land resources in Hexi Corridor area. It also provides a preliminary theoretical basis for a further elaboration in land productive potentialities, rational utilization and development of land resources in order to better benefit, the economy ecosystem and society.
