Effects of Eugenol and Intercropping on Root Morphology of Wheat and Faba-bean |

Abstract In order to provide theoretical basis for the regulation of intercropping system affected by allelochemical and explore the possibility way for weakening the allelochemicals through intercropping, pot experiment was carried out to research the effects of eugenol(300×10-6 mol·kg-1)on root morphology of intercropping wheat and faba-bean,sole wheat and sole faba-bean. Results show that: The eugenol had negative allelopathic effect on the fresh weight, dry weight and length of root in sole cropping wheat and faba-bean, but had positive allelopathic effect on the fresh weight, dry weight and length of root in intercropping and sole cropping faba-bean. Date showed that when treated with eugenol,the root fresh weight, dry weight, root volume and root length per plant of wheat increased significantly compared to monoculture, meanwhile,faba bean root fresh weight, dry weight, root volume and root length per plant reduces under monoculture. Wheat-fababean intercropped model can effectively relieve the accumulated concentration of eugenol around the wheat rhizosphere, while generates a sense of action and acted a significant inhibitory effect for faba-bean.
