Abstract

Abstract:

The Badain Jaran Desert， as the second largest mobile desert in China， has been listed in the world natural heritage tentative list for its unique natural phenomenon and rare natural beauty. However， it is lack of complete scientific discussion on the aesthetic value. Based on the field investigation， Google Earth image and literature review， we identified and classified the dune lines with the straight lines， curve lines and interlaced lines， discussing the aesthetic value of the mega-dunes with the form and content based on relevant theories of aesthetics and aeolian geomorphology. The potential aesthetic value of the megadunes in the Badain Jaran Desert is worth exploring， which is important to the development of desert resources， especially tourism resources， and even the popularization of desert scientific knowledge.
