Classifying Indices and Remote Sensing Image Characters of Rocky Desertification Lands: A Case of Karst Region in Northern Guangdong Province

Abstract  The base and key of improving the evaluating and monitoring level on rocky desertification lands is to establish the exactly classifying indices and the remote sensing image characters of the landforms. According to the conception of ecological datum plane, and based on the principle of integration, leading and maneuverability, the indices including rock, vegetation, soil and land use type are chose to establish the classifying standards of rocky desertification lands. The remote sensing image interpretation keys about the four types of rocky desertification lands in northern Guangdong province have been set up. It is proved that the indices and keys can effectively disclose the status of the rocky desertification lands in study region.
