Application of Concept of Flexibility in Psammophyte Research |

Abstract Flexibility of plant is a significant factor for psammophytes preventing wind erosion. Application of flexibility concept could provide some theoretical basis for selection of erosion control measures and establishment of the sand wind erosion equation. In this paper, both domestic and international research status for flexibility of plant were reviewed. Then we brought forward the concept of flexible and rigid desert plants, and analyzed the deficiency of the present research. The future research directions include: a quantitative determination of plant flexibility, mechanism of flexible and rigid plants, division and definition of both of them, as well as simulation of flexibility in wind tunnel.
