| Study on Dynamic Changes of Aeolian Desertification Lands around Qinghai Lake in Recent 30 Years based on Remote Sensing and GIS |

Abstract The area around Qinghai Lake is one of the most serious desertification regions in Qinghai Plateau. In this paper, landsat remote sensing imageries and GIS analysis are used to obtain spatial-temporal changes and differentiation pattern data of aeolian desertification lands around Qinghai Lake of about 14 300 km2 in 1976, 1987, 1995 and 2004. Meanwhile, we forecast the development trend of aeolian desertification lands in next 20 years. Results show that the area of aeolian desertification lands around Qinghai Lake has experienced a sustained expansion process of three phases, which are rapid development→slow development→fast development in order; the spatial pattern of desertification land evolved from little patchy pattern or scattered distribution to zonal differentiation pattern which includes four main sandy dune regions connected by lakeshore sand. Due to climate change, human activities and artificial control effect, the desertification land area around Qinghai Lake will still show an upward trend in the next 15 years, but the area of desertification lands around Qinghai Lak will reduced after 2021.
