Disaster Degree and Risk Degree of Wind Disasters in Xinjiang

Abstract  Analysis on wind disaster data in 1980-2000 from literature, statistical yearbook, and on weather data for 1957-2010 from 105 weather stations in Xinjiang disclosed that wind disasters mainly occurred in May to June when strong wind days is the most too. The degree of wind disasters in Xinjiang are mainly the mild disaster and county government will principally provide disaster relief. The wind disaster degree and strong wind days is coherent in each district of Xinjiang except for Shihezi and Bazhou districts. There is no extremely severe risk area in Xinjiang and most areas in Xinjiang belong to moderate risk area. It is found out that the analyzing results based on disaster degree and on risk degree of wind disasters are different, and the reasons are differentiated too. The results will provide theoretical basis for local government to prevent from wind disasters.
