Determination of Major and Minor Elements in Limited Samples Measurement Based on X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry |

Abstract X ray fluorescence spectrometric method has characteristics of simplifying sample preparation, rapid analyzing speed, effective repeatability, wide range, and simultaneous multielement analysis, etc., which is widely applied in many fields at present. In certain experiments, samples ready for measurement are always limited in number because of source finitude. So, its necessary to find a method for measuring the major and the minor elements in limited samples. By making use of Regression curve method, Empirical coefficient method, and Compton scattering line variable internal standard method, we have obtained the working curve constants, influence coefficient, and spectral overlap coefficient of determined elements, and compared the precision and accuracy of measuring 4 g (normal measuring mass, inside diameter is 32 mm) and 1 g (limited mass, inside diameter is 10 mm) samples. Results indicate that the average precision of measuring 4 g and 1 g samples are about 1% and 3%, respectively, which can meet the requirements of sample analysis in multi-object geochemical survey.
