Abstract: The serious social-economic-environmental problem faced in the large-scale development of the western China is the land desertification that is developing fastly in large area.Mainly,land desertification is the land degradation processes in arid and semi-arid areas due to intensive human activities.Desertification has seriouly restricted the development of social economy and the protection of ecological environment in the western China.The significance and the urgency of desertification control stand out specially in the new situation of the western China's large-scale development.The research on desertification and the control to its calamities aim at promoting the sustainable development of Chinese social economy and carrying out the strategy for large-scale development of the western China;in details,improving policy,intensifying management,and accelerating controlling to improve ecological environment based on sciencetecnology progress and law,lastly,realizing the coordinating development of society-economy-ervironment.
