Abstract: The sand-dust storm is a kind of disaster weather with serious harmfulness.Its occurrence and development should not only be an important process which speeds up desertification,but also be an indication that desertification has developed to a severe degree.In the paper,it has been made a brief retrospect that many scientists have achieved research results in the basic characteristics and harms of sand-dust storms,the formative causes of sand-dust storms and their numerical simulation research,transportation of sand-dust aerosol,countermeasures of preventing sand-dust storm disaster and reducing damages and so on.At the same time,this paper systematically reveals some advances in researches of sand-dust storms.
