Abstract: As an unique ecological-economic region,oasis is the essence of arid land.Its long-term stable development takes a fundamental and crucial role for the exploitation and construction of the whole region.Based upon the formation and evolution of oasis and the factor of restricting the coordinating development of oasis economy and environment,this paper presents a goal of its coordinating development.It suggests that the sustainable development of oasis could be ensured only if the oasis-desert and water resource ecology are combined and managed to form a macro ecosystem.On the basis of above,the approach to the development of economy and environment of oasis in arid land depends upon establishing an oasis ecological and economic system,which suits for the arid environment and promotes the efficiency of resource configuration,stable economic increment and beneficial ecological development.
