Research Progress and Suggestion for Study on Soil Animal in Sandy Grassland |

Abstract The agro-pastoral transition zone of northern China has fragile ecological background, where the ecosystem has been severely destroyed strongly disturbed by natural factors and human activities, and the grasslands face the danger of desertification. Acting as an integral part in material circulation and energy flow of sandy grassland ecosystem, soil animals play an important role in protecting and improving land resources, controlling land degradation and other kinds of sandy desertification. The authors of this paper reviewed research of soil animals on aspects of soil animal composition, study method, space-time change, and function on sandy grassland ecosystem, etc. Furthermore, the current problems in soil animal research are analyzed, and some suggestions are also given. The study has provided scientific basis for restoration and reconstruction of sandy grassland ecosystem.
