Abstract: By analysing drill logs along the north bank of Luanhe River and ground observations in 1977-1982 and in 1985, the duneforms and their features, the stratigraphic succession of sand sidements, the sedimental characteristics and the sedimental processses on the north bank of Luanhe River are presented and discussed. It is believed that the dominant dunes on the north bank of Luanhe River are composed of the two groups of dunes one is 1) moving from land to river bank and the other is 2) encroaching from river bank to river. On the dominant dunes, new second dunes are formed. By3C dating, the age of aeolian sand dunes has been determined and the major distinctions between aeolian sands, lacustrine sand and seabeach sands are made. The evidemces for interpretering deepfdeposits of continintal aeolian and coastal aeolian sand have been presented.
