Physico-Geographical Factors for Formation of Sand-Dust Storms in Loess Plateau Region: Factor Analysis

摘要: 以黄土高原地区227个县的资料为基础,研究了沙尘暴的发生频率与自然地理因子之间的关系。研究表明,沙尘暴的发生频率与自然地理因子密切相关,年降水量越大,地表物质可蚀性越小,大风日数越少,年均风速越小,年均沙尘暴日数越少。

Abstract: Based on the data from 227 counties in the Loess Plateau region of China and using regression method, we studied the relation between the frequency of sand-dust storms and physico-geographical factors. The results show that the frequency of sand-dust storms is closely correlated with physico-geographical factors. It has been found that the lower the annual precipitation is, the more the annual days of strong wind are and the lower the erosional-resistance of the surface material, the higher the frequency of sand-dust storms is.
