Coupling Coordination Developing Relationship between Intensive Land Use and Urbanization in Gansu, China

Abstract  

Intensive land use and urbanization influence each other. The coupling coordination between the intensive land use and the urbanization is an important factor influencing the urban development speed. This paper studied the 12 cities in Gansu province, and built coupling coordination developing models between intensive land use and urbanization, and quantitatively assessed their coupling coordination developing conditions, and took spatial clustering analysis by using geographical spatial analysis tools. The results show that most cities had transited from antagonism stage to compromise stage, but have not reached harmonious stage, which indicates that the relationship between intensive land use and urbanization in Gansu province have not completely achieved the coordination developing stage; coupling coordination between intensive land use and urbanization in Gansu province is generally low, and it presented yearly expanding trend since 2003.
