Stability Evaluation of Protection Forest System in Artificial Oasis\_A Case Study of Oasis Protection Forest in Irrigated Area of Jingtai County |

Abstract Artificial oasis developed by irrigation through channeling water is the backing of development of society and economy in arid area. Stable protection forest system of the artificial oasis is the essential prerequisite for the oasis stability. Based on the meaning and substance of the stability of artificial oasis protection forest system, the indicator system composed of 4 hierarchies including 19 factors to evaluate the stability were erected. The indicators were quantified by classification method, and the weight values of all factors were calculated by the method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP). At the same time, the criterion and the specific method were defined to judge the stability of the protection forest system in artificial oasis. The protection forest of the typical artificial oasis developed by irrigation through channeling water from the Yellow River in Jingtai county Gansu province was taken as an example to test the evaluation system. The result basically conformed to the reality.
